The Counseling Center

Mission Statement:

To help individuals in Allegany County affected by mental illness and serious emotional disturbance to achieve their hopes, dreams and quality of life goals. Services will be delivered in the least restrictive, non-stigmatizing, most accessible environment within a coordinated system of community and self-care, respectful of a personís family and loved ones, language, culture, ethnicity, gender and sexual identity.

>The Counseling Center was certified in January 1988. More than 1500 clients and family members are seen each year.

Emotional Disorders Are Our #1 Health Problem

  • They affect 1 out of 7 Americans right now.
  • They affect as many people as all other diseases combined.
  • They do not discriminate; they affect all races, cultures & genders, ages, etc.
  • Emotional Problems aren't hopeless or incurable.

If someone close to you is troubled you can help. Encourage him/her to discuss the problem with his/her family doctor or to contact The Counseling Center directly.
