Case Management Services
ARA provides several levels of case management services to the mentally ill
population of Allegany County. The case management program is a comprehensive
program dedicated to helping mentally ill individuals enhance their quality of
life and be productive members of society. The goal of the program is to assist
mentally ill individuals, who are incapable of doing so themselves, access
services needed to enhance their quality of life. Furthermore, the purpose of
this program is to maintain clients in the community at the most productive
level possible of the individual. Its' aim is to benefit clients by reducing
hospitalization and reliance on emergency psychiatric services and increasing
engagement in appropriate community based mental health services.
Clients receive case management services by being referred through the Adult
SPOA and Children's SPOA committees. The committees determine the
appropriateness of the referral and each has their respective process for
assigning cases based upon set criteria. Case management can help in the areas
of living arrangements, physical health needs, mental health needs, economic
needs, vocational/educational needs, social functioning, family functioning,
self-care needs, self-direction, and substance abuse.
ARA provides Supportive Case Management and Clinic Level Case Management
services for adults and children. Case Management services are also provided
through the Senior Outreach Program.
